Mel was born in Kansas and spent his early years in Oklahoma.
With his Cherokee Indian heritage and family involvement with horses
he has a great affinity for the western and Southwest subjects he concentrates on.
Mel is a horse owner and an accomplished Farrier.
His leisure time is spent riding his horses and motorcycles and drawing.
